Wearingeul Carmilla Fountain Pen Ink – 30 mL

Inspired by Sheridan Le Fanu’s Carmilla, Wearingeul Carmilla is a muted rose-red fountain pen ink drawn from one of Gothic literature’s earliest and most influential vampire stories. Its color sits between dusty rose, faded crimson, and soft red, giving it a restrained quality rather than the brightness of a conventional red ink.

Produced by Wearingeul as part of its World Literature Ink Collection, Carmilla translates the atmosphere of Le Fanu’s novella into a color intended for writing. On the page, the softened red has an aged, almost romantic character particularly well suited to correspondence, journaling, and passages where a vivid primary red would feel too emphatic.

Carmilla is interesting precisely because it refuses to behave like an obvious “vampire red.” The color is quieter: a softened, somewhat faded red with rose and dusty undertones.

That restraint suits the source remarkably well. Carmilla is a story built as much upon intimacy, attraction, and unease as upon horror, and this ink occupies a similarly ambiguous territory. It is unmistakably red, but considerably gentler than its subject might lead you to expect.
