Platinum Classic Khaki Black Fountain Pen Ink — 60 mL
Khaki Black opens as a medium, warm brown with a faint red-orange undertone, like the cloth cover of an old field notebook, then deepens toward black as its iron oxidizes on the page. Platinum’s Classic inks are made in the traditional iron gall manner—the ink of clerks and archives—and each is named for the black it is slowly moving toward.
Reviewers note high shading and a rather dry flow, so it rewards a pen that runs a little wet. Platinum presents the Classic line as resistant to light and water once oxidized; independent tests have found more modest water resistance, so consider it an archival-minded ink rather than a waterproof one.
Also from the Classic line: Cassis Black and Sepia Black.
