Boston Lore Brass Pocket Fountain Pen

$25.00

A compact brass fountain pen selected by Boston Lore Studio for its substantial weight, simple construction, and satisfying writing experience.

Closed, the pen measures approximately 4¼ inches long, making it small enough to carry easily or keep tucked inside a notebook case. The cap posts securely onto the back of the barrel, transforming the compact pen into a comfortable full-length writing instrument.

The brushed brass finish is intentionally understated. With handling and use, brass naturally changes in tone and develops marks and patina, giving each pen a character particular to its owner.

We tested this pen with fountain pen inks of different flow characteristics and were impressed by its reliable performance and comfortable balance. Its compact size disguises a surprisingly substantial object in the hand.

Each pen is presented by Boston Lore Studio in a simple kraft paper box with a black insert and includes a note from the Archivist’s Desk. One black ink cartridge is included, so the pen is ready to write straight from the box.

A note on brass

Brass is a living material. Its surface will gradually darken, brighten, and develop marks through contact with the hand and everyday use. These changes are natural characteristics of unfinished or lightly finished brass rather than defects.

Ink & Filling

The pen includes one black standard international short ink cartridges for immediate use, along with a reusable ink converter for bottled fountain pen ink. It also accepts other standard international short ink cartridges for convenient refilling at home or while traveling.

The Archivist’s Recommendation

Against warm brass, the Archivist favors Kaweco Palm Green for a green that settles naturally beside the metal, or J. Herbin Perle Noire for a classic black. For everyday refills, Boston Lore Studio Black International Cartridges were tested with this pen and hold more ink than standard short cartridges. Remove the converter before inserting a cartridge.
