Hafod Grange Teasel Botanical Paperweight

Hafod Grange's Teasel Botanical Paperweight preserves a real teasel seed head within clear resin. Suspended inside, its fine spines and strange architectural form become unexpectedly prominent—the sort of ordinary natural object that becomes much more curious when removed from its landscape and examined closely.

Each botanical specimen is carefully dried and cast in resin, then individually turned and polished by Hafod Grange in Wales. Because the plant itself is real, every paperweight has its own variations in form, position, and detail.

We were particularly drawn to the Teasel because it doesn't immediately announce what it is. From across a desk it resembles a small botanical artifact; up close, the intricate structure of the plant reveals itself. It is useful as a paperweight, certainly, but we like it just as much as a curious object to keep among books, correspondence, and the accumulated things of a writing desk.
