Some browns lean toward sepia and old photographs. Diamine's Chocolate Brown goes the other way: a deep, saturated brown with the warmth of good chocolate, and one of the darkest browns in the range.
On the page it writes rich and dark, with a reddish undertone that shows through in everyday writing. It flows generously and looks especially fine in medium nibs, where a little shading appears at the edges of each stroke. It is a brown for letters, recipes and journals, warmer than black and every bit as legible. The generous 80 mL bottle comes from Diamine of Liverpool, England, who have been making ink since 1864.
