Archer & Olive — Storybook in Plum Notebook

A notebook made to resemble a treasured volume pulled from an old library shelf.

The Storybook in Plum journal from Archer & Olive is bound in deep plum vegan leather and finished with intricate gold-foil and embossed detailing inspired by the ornamented covers of traditional storybooks. Its rich color and decorative binding make it particularly suited to commonplace keeping, reading notes, personal journaling, quotations, sketches, and collections of thoughts gathered over time.

Inside are 160 pages of substantial 160gsm dot-grid paper, sewn with a lay-flat binding for comfortable writing across the spread. A pen loop, ribbon bookmarks, and back pocket complete the book.

We selected the Storybook for The Library because it offers something quite different from our thinner fountain-pen papers: a substantial page intended for journaling, stamping, drawing, collage, and mixed-media work.

From the Archivist’s Desk
We tested this Archer & Olive paper with several fountain pen and ink combinations, ranging from a medium nib to a particularly wet double-broad nib. The results were surprisingly good: clean, controlled lines with little to no noticeable feathering and no bleed-through, including with the double-broad. For such substantial paper, it makes a particularly satisfying notebook for writers who enjoy using a variety of pens and inks. As always, fountain pen performance can vary with the particular nib, ink, and writing style.
