The Carp
A small glazed ceramic carp, discovered for a second life at the writing desk.
The Carp began not as a conventional piece of stationery, but as a small ceramic object. Its gently curved back and raised tail, however, make a remarkably natural resting place for a fountain pen or dip pen.
Finished in a quiet blue-green glaze with subtle variations across its surface, each fish has the character of a tiny object one might find tucked among books, ink bottles, and the accumulated implements of an old writing desk.
Boston Lore Studio did not manufacture The Carp. We discovered it while searching for unusual objects for the studio, tested it at our own writing desk, and found an unexpected purpose for it as a pen rest.
We are particularly fond of objects whose usefulness was never prescribed for them. The Carp is one of those discoveries — part pen rest, part small ceramic sculpture, and entirely at home beside a bottle of ink.
Size : about 6.8cm length
