Robert Oster Motor Oil is an unusually complex dark ink that moves between brown, olive green, and near-black depending on the paper, pen, and concentration of the line.
Rather than behaving like a conventional brown, Motor Oil reveals subdued green and earthy undertones as it shades across the page. On fountain-pen-friendly papers, its darker areas can develop an understated black sheen, giving handwriting a weathered, almost antiquarian character. Its unusual color variation makes Motor Oil particularly well suited to writing, journaling, sketching, and anyone drawn to complex, muted inks.

The Boston Lore Studio Archive Bottle is designed as a small, keepable edition for writers and fountain pen users who want to explore an ink without committing to a full bottle. After the ink is finished, the glass bottle may be cleaned and reused.
